I’m pretty sure that I’ll be revisiting the election at some point if for no other reason than I am so godawful tired of hearing that the president’s win was all about demographics. But I did sort of promise a couple of friends that I would shut up about it for a while. So I will.
Here is my not-about-the-election-really-but-sort-of-a-little-bit-because-elections-are-honestly-overviews-of-all-of-the-issues-in-the-country, post.
Yesterday was Veteran’s Day. My Facebook feed was all over THANK YOU VETERANS posts. That was sweet.
Were you aware that women in the military are regularly forced to bear their rapist’s children? Women comprise 14 percent of the Army ranks, they account for 95 percent of all sex crime victims. Oh and sexual assault against women in the military has risen 64% since 2006.
So there’s that. Women, who are risking their lives while serving their nation are regularly being raped by their fellow soldiers and when they get pregnant, which does happen Republicans, they are forced to either have their rapists babies or pay for their pregnancy termination out of pocket, if they are lucky.
Why “if they are lucky?”
Because if they are in an area wherein they can’t get civilian care, the military will not provide the procedure.
Right now, at this moment, military women are being forced to carry their rapist’s babies.
Who feels like that honors the service of military women?
